Relax, recover, and restore balance with professional massage therapy integrated with your chiropractic care or available as a standalone wellness service.
Insurance coverage
Some health insurance policies cover a portion of massage therapy services in conjunction with chiropractic treatment. If you are already a patient at Heppner Family Chiropractic & Wellness Center, we will be happy to contact your insurance provider to determine coverage and any limitations that may apply.
If you are not already a patient, a brief initial visit with Dr. Heppner is required for referral in order for insurance to be billed appropriately.
Wellness-only visits
If you would prefer to schedule a therapeutic massage without including chiropractic care, that's fine too. You would be considered a Wellness Center client and simply pay a fee for service.

Techniques explained
Massage techniques tailored to your needs.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage employs techniques that are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. Deep tissue releases chronic patterns of tension through slow strokes and deep pressure on contracted areas, either following or moving across the grain of muscles, tendons, and fascia.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system to eliminate restrictions. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Long, stretching strokes release muscular tension. It is an effective therapeutic approach for cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy is soft-tissue manipulation that balances the body's central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. The goal is to relieve pain and dysfunction by understanding and alleviating the underlying cause. It applies concentrated finger pressure to 'trigger points' to break cycles of spasm and pain, release spasms, eliminate referred pain, rebuild strength of injured tissues, and restore postural alignment, biomechanics, and flexibility.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. It uses long strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Benefits include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation that can speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
Prenatal or Pregnancy Massage
Prenatal massage uses techniques that are effective and safe during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of the mother. Skilled, appropriate touch can facilitate labor, often shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety.
Postnatal Massage
Postnatal massage relieves the stress of delivery by facilitating recovery of the postpartum woman and providing emotional support for the transition back into a non-pregnant body. Specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions. Swedish massage and manual lymph drainage help rehabilitate abdominal skin and muscles; reflexology benefits overall well-being; and deep tissue techniques address muscle strain from childcare activities. Postnatal massage is also helpful for post-cesarean mothers—please consult your physician first.
Reflexology
Reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to other parts of the body. Pressure applied to these reflex zones stimulates body organs and relieves areas of congestion. Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the body's energy flow to stimulate healing, maintain balance in physical function, reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood.
Geriatric Massage
Geriatric massage refers to massage for elderly individuals recovering from or living with disease and/or disability. We use modifications of standard techniques suited to debilitating physical conditions. Common physiological changes associated with aging include loss of skin elasticity, thinning of subcutaneous layers, loss of muscle mass, easy bruising, osteoporosis, and decreased range of motion. We typically use a lighter touch and apply deep tissue techniques only with extreme caution, if at all.
Sports Massage
Sports massage consists of specific components designed to reduce injuries, alleviate inflammation, and provide warm-up and cool-down for athletes before, during, and after training regimens. It focuses on the muscle systems relevant to a particular sport.
